Extra Credit (biology and IESPS)

Do a search at Science Daily for an article that applies to our current unit. Write a short summary, and then an evaluation of the science reported (not the article itself!)

New Fossil Suggests Dinosaurs Not So Fierce After All

A new paper by Rowe, et al, discusses research on the dinosaur sarahsaurus, which shows that this dinosaur and others made slow migrations into North America in separate waves long after the Triassic-Cretaceous extinction event, taking advantage of available habitats and niches. This is contrary to the general view that dinosaurs bullied their way into all parts of Earth.
Study of the natural history of dinosaurs may not seem to provide concrete benefits to humanity, but because all life on Earth is connected, research on extinct organisms can reveal relationships in our current ecosystems. Dinosaurs are a popular science topic, so any new ideas about them contributes to  the public understanding of science.
